Self care

Self Care

One of the kindest things we can do for our mental health but often one of the hardest things to do,
is self-care - being kind to ourselves.

Self care can be achieved in many different ways and can have a profound and positive impact on our well-being and how we can then care for other people in our lives.

Acceptance

Acceptance is one of the kindest gifts you can give to yourself but also one of the hardest things to do. There are many things, within us or around us, that can affect whether we can allow acceptance. It is often through lack of acceptance that many will avoid seeking counselling as a step forward. It is hard to accept that things are difficult, can change or not as we had hoped for.

Once we begin to accept, we can begin to understand our mental health and learn to take care of our well-being.

Mindfulness

Much has been written about Mindfulness, but what it means is being mindful of you, what is around you, what affects you and how you respond. Though practicing mindfulness it can empower you to become calmer, happier and healthier.

We can then understand and distinguish between good habits (self-care, gratitude and healthy relationships) and bad habits (neglecting self, negative thoughts and toxic relationships, to become the best version of YOU.

Sleep

Getting good sleep can help your mental and physical wellbeing.

A good balanced diet, with plenty of fruit and vegetables can gives us vital vitamins and minerals to aid our wellbeing; promoting healthy sleep and increasing energy levels. Reducing alcohol intake and staying well hydrated also assists in promoting positive mental health.
